Good news seems in short supply lately, but here is some great news for Google Ads users. If you are a small business user, you are likely using Google Ads (previously known as Google AdWords) to engage new customers and create an online revenue stream. Well, guess what, the multibillion dollar company is giving you some money back.
To help with the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic and its impact on small businesses as well as to help health organizations and government agencies, Google is giving credits of over $800 million dollars. They will use $340 of the $800 million for credits towards small and medium-sized businesses (SMB’s).
The company’s give back plan requires no applications. The credits will be issued automatically to any current SMB’s utilizing Google Ads. Google explained, “small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of our communities. They represent about 90 percent of all business and more than half of employment worldwide… COVID-19 has posed a particular challenge to these businesses, who may be facing closures and declining revenue even as they find ways to support and protect their employees. The ad credit is our gesture to show support and solidarity with these businesses as they continue to engage with their customers.”
There is a bit of small print. Your business has to have spent money for Google Ads in ten out of the twelve months of 2019 with January and February of 2020 also being taken into account. The ad credits will be coming in phases due to the infrastructure needed to give credits worldwide across multiple currencies and diverse accounts. The amount you could receive in credits is up to $1000 and is determined by the amounts you have spent on Google Ads and your country/currency.
Each eligible customer will only receive one credit (but hey, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth). “We want to help small and medium-sized businesses stay in touch with their customers during this challenging time. …which can be used towards future ad spend, until the end of 2020 across our Google Ads platforms. ” You can find the credit on the “Promotions” page of your account then clicking on the tools icon, and finally selecting “Billing.”
During this time of tribulation, it can be hard to find silver linings. This Google Ads credit is proof that they are out there.
